These easy Banana Egg Pancakes are a big hit in our home. The kids love them because they taste great and I love them because they’re FAST and EASY, and don’t contain dairy or gluten. (Our family is not dairy or gluten intolerant, but because those ingredients are in EVERYTHING these days, I try to limit them when possible to help our family have a healthier diet.)
Banana Egg Pancakes AKA Kiddie Cakes
Below is my Banana Egg Pancakes recipe I use to feed my currently three small children, one being a toddler, that have small appetites. This recipe is easily doubled or tripled to make additional pancakes for more adults and children, depending on their appetites. These are so easy to make it wouldn’t be the end of the world if you ended up with extras.
High in Protein
Protein is so important for a growing body and brain, and eggs are an easy go-to source of it. Some kids don’t enjoy the texture of eggs or even bananas, understandably so, but this pancake recipe disguises them as pancakes. I think this is a hilarious parenting win!
Gluten, Grain, and Dairy Free
This banana egg pancake recipe is gluten and grain free, and can be made dairy free by cooking them in coconut oil instead of butter. I love that these don’t have that grainy texture that many grain free pancakes have. They have more of an egg-y texture than a bread-y one.
Kids Love Them!
I’ve never known a kid to say no to these banana egg pancakes because kids love them! I think some people even call them “kiddie cakes” because of who they’re marketed to. 😉
Toppings
Presentation is everything, and this is where pancake toppings shine. Of course, feel free to serve these with nothing on them – they are delicious on their own! Here are some topping ideas.
- Butter
- Strawberries, raspberries, blueberries, blackberries (or any kind of berry you have on hand)
- Whipped cream (use dairy-free whipped cream to keep everything dairy-free)
- Chocolate chips
- Maple syrup or honey
- Nutella
- Peanut butter (for more protein!)
Simple Preparation Instructions
- First, mash all bananas in one bowl.
- Next, whisk eggs in a second bowl.
- Finally, combine all ingredients into one bowl.
TIP: Resist the urge to do things your own way and mix ingredients together all in one bowl. Mix these things separately like in the photo below. My way will save you a lot of time. Trust me!
Easy, Step-by-Step Cooking Instructions
- In a non-stick pan melt butter or coconut oil over medium heat.
- Place apple sized circles of pancake batter in pan.
- Flip when the first side is cooked.
- Once both sides are cooked, you’re done!
TIP: If the oil starts smoking or turning brown, it’s too hot. Wipe out the pan and start over. You don’t want the pan too hot!
I meant to take a picture of the beautifully plated food and a video of my kids thanking me for my amazing cooking skills. But, I think the picture below says a lot. The food vanished quickly! Ha!
TIP: To make this recipe baby friendly, cut pancakes into very small bites like you would any other food served to a baby learning to eat solid foods.

Easy Banana Egg Pancakes Recipe – Only 2 Ingredients!
Easy Banana Egg Pancakes (AKA Kiddie Cakes)
Banana Egg Pancakes are a big hit in our home. The kids love them because they taste great and I love them because they're FAST and don't contain dairy or gluten. This Banana Egg Pancake recipe feeds three small kids with a small appetite. Double this recipe for 2 adults and 2 kids. Also works well for a waffle recipe.
Ingredients
- 4 Eggs
- 2 Bananas
Instructions
- Mash bananas.
- In a separate bowl, whisk eggs.
- Combine ingredients.
- Heat a well-seasoned iron skillet or non-stick pan over medium heat.
- Melt a little coconut oil in the pan.
- Pour apple sized circles of batter in the skillet.
- Flip to cook the other side.
- You're done! Pour a smidgen of maple syrup on top and you're good to go!
Notes
- Do not combine all the ingredients into one bowl until the bananas and eggs have been thoroughly mashed and/or whisked. This will save you a lot of time.
- Make sure your pan is non-stick.
- Serve with berries. Your kids will love you for it.
- You could also pour honey, or cane syrup over it too instead of maple syrup. The sky is the limit!
- Many people enjoy adding things like vanilla extract for more flavoring. Delicious!
- A TBS of protein powder or flax seed flour would thicken it up and add some more nutrition.
- This recipe is also great on a waffle iron to make waffles.

Tried it but I think next time it needs something else such as berries like you suggested. But super quick and healthy

Not the best pancake! It tasted more like an sweet omelette than a pancake. Stick to the blender than whisking it yourself.
